Our Blue Ridge mountains and local landscapes influence Jan’s work figuratively, and in her choice of glaze palate. House Mountain is an iconic subject. Jan mixes her own glazes, and is especially intrigued by the old Japanese and Chinese glazes. The ancient craft of creating and firing functional stoneware from clay to glazed piece continues to challenge with endless possibilities to explore.
