Anne Scarpa McCauley

Anne Scarpa McCauley lives outside Charlottesville, Virginia, She began making honeysuckle baskets as a girl while out tending goats, and is entirely self-taught.

Anne picks invasive Japanese honeysuckle locally and on the property where she grew up to make her baskets. They are 100% natural, with no coloring or finish on the completed baskets.

Most of Anne’s baskets are made for use. They are strong, light-weight, and have the
ability to endure years of use without showing wear.

Honeysuckle is the only vine used in Anne’s basketry. Handles on baskets are supported with a central wire covered over with honeysuckle.

We are one of several galleries on the East Coast that offer Anne’s work for sale.
